Sosian - Luxury Safari Lodge in Laikipia, Kenya
Sosian, a luxury safari lodge located in the heart of the world-famous Laikipia plateau in Kenya. In this vast, open expanse of unspoiled wilderness, elephants roam free and the lion’s roar pierces the silence of the night.

 Laikipia Wildlife Forum
The Laikipia Wildlife Forum brings together all the different interest groups in the district who are involved in wildlife, including ranchers, pastoralists from the group ranches, representatives from the small farming communities, the government, the Kenya Wildlife Service and NGO's.

 Mpala Research Center
Mpala Wildlife Foundation is dedicated to conservation of the land, wildlife and natural resources of Laikipia.

 Laikipia Predator Project
Until recently scientists believed there were 100-200,000 lions living in Africa. A recent survey involving lion specialists across the continent has found that the number has dropped dramatically to approximately 23,000, and most of these are living in protected national parks. But outside these parks lions are being killed at an alarming rate, and unless urgent action is taken, they may be completely wiped out from these unprotected areas.

 Save the Elephants
Our mission is to secure a future for elephants and to sustain the beauty and ecological integrity of the places where they live; to promote man’s delight in their intelligence and the diversity of their world, and to develop a tolerant relationship between the two species.

 The East African Wildlife Society
For over forty (40) years, EAWLS has been at the forefront in the efforts for protecting endangered, rare or threatened species and habitats in East Africa.
programme areas - EAWLS is proud to be involved in a number of programmes geared to the preservation and conservation of the environment. Some of these are: species conservation, wetlands & marine resources conservation, forests & water catchment areas conservation & conservation education.

 Nature Kenya
The Society was established in 1909 and is the oldest conservation organisation in Africa.
The aim of Nature Kenya is to promote the study and conservation of the natural environment, in eastern Africa.
In pursuing this mission, Nature Kenya strives to:
* build a strong constituency for conservation across the country
* enhance knowledge of Kenya's biological diversity
* advocate for policies favourable to biodiversity conservation
* promote conservation of key species, sites, and habitats

Lions on Sosian

The main pride on Sosian is called the Acacia Dam Pride because the dam appears to be at
the core of their territory, which stretches from ranch HQ all the way up to the Pinguone Lugga
on the northern boundary of Sosian. Their favorite area, however, is behind Acacia Dam, where
they lie up in the bush and ambush game coming down to drink. Lion society in Laikipia is very
fluid and the Acacia Dam Pride splits up into small groups most of the time, only meeting up
when a large kill is made or intruders are chased off...
